Natural language understanding is a core technology for building natural interfaces such as AI speakers, chatbots, and smartphones. Sangkeun Jung offers an overview of a spoken dialog system and recently launched AI speaker, NUGU, and shares the technical and engineering lessons learned building a commercially efficient and sustainable natural language understanding system. The platform supports AI speakers, mobile navigation systems, and mobile secretary apps and handles large-scale traffic each day.

Sangkeun Jung is a researcher at SK Telecom, where he focuses on natural language interfaces. He is the main developer for the NUGU AI speaker. Sangkeun has 13 years of experience in AI research and engineering. He holds a PhD in computer science and engineering.
