Precision medicine holds the promise of revolutionizing healthcare by delivering better health outcomes at lower costs by eliminating trial-and-error medicine. Artificial intelligence (AI) will play a key role in precision medicine from accelerated development of targeted therapies to advances in biomarker discovery and interpretation and even improved productivity at the point of care through the use of intelligent algorithms for computer-aided detection of illness.

However, applying deep learning to precision medicine requires enormous computing power and the development of novel algorithms. Intel is working on developing hardware and software solutions to make this a reality. Arjun Bansal shares emerging algorithms and models used to analyze healthcare data, including electronic health records, medical images, and pharmaceutical and genomics datasets.
